How are Eucalyptus Bed Sheets made?

To keep it short, Eucalyptus sheets are made from the wood of a eucalyptus tree. Most eucalyptus is lyocell, which ours are, which is a cellulosic fibre that's made after you take the wood and turn it into a wood pulp and then extrude it out into a fibre, and then you use that to weave sheets.

In case you were wondering, the wood and pulp is all sourced from sustainably managed plantations All production process are recycled as part of a closed loop production process (99.5% recovery rate), which means no nasty extras entering the environment!

Although the process is already carbon neutral, made from trees grown on sustainably managed, biodiverse farms, not from endangered or ancient forests. You can rest assured that we do everything we can to reduce our impact on the environment.

We use authentic certified TENCEL™ , so rest easy that they are the highest quality sheets on the market.

The benefits for you and the environment

Are eucalyptus sheets better for the environment than cotton?

Yes, our 100% Eucalyptus Lyocell sheets are much better for the environment than cotton sheets (even organic cotton). For example:

      •     Eucalyptus sheets use less water during the manufacturing process (150 litters) than cotton (4,000 litres).
      •
      • Eucalyptus sheets use 30% less energy during manufacturing compared to cotton sheets.
      •
      • Cotton crops use arable land, taking up space that could be used for crop and food production, whereas eucalyptus trees can be grown on land which isn’t suitable for crops.
      •
      • Eucalyptus Lyocell uses no pesticides or insecticides, whereas the cotton production process does, using products and chemicals that kill the birds and the bees.

So they’re better for the planet - but what about for you?

    Eucalyptus sheets keep you cool

Yes, Yes and Yes. That is one of many benefits of our bedding at Dream Sheets, 100% Eucalyptus Lyocell products are moisture-wicking and have a low surface friction, resulting in bedding that always makes you feel cool.

    Breathable

Other bed sheet fabrics trap heat. But our Eucalyptus sheets are x3 times more breathable than cotton. It allows moisture to escape giving you a better sleep.

It wicks moisture and beads away and makes you feel cool and comfortable.

    Chemical-Free

Good sleep and health go hand in hand. So it’s understandable if you don't want to ruin your sleep and your health with sheets filtered with toxic chemicals.

Our Eucalyptus sheets are free from toxic chemicals, unlike the other options. Eucalyptus undergoes the Lyocell process to get the best results., It uses a non-toxic solvent that the company reuses to protect the environment.

The production of the eucalyptus sheets uses 95% less water compared to other fabrics. Because of this, eucalyptus sheets are not just free from toxic substances. They are Eco-friendly as well.

    Antibacterial

Other bedding options are a terrible ground for germs and bacteria. This build-up of bacteria can lead to acne and other skin problems. Aside from skin issues, these beddings can also keep you up all night because of the itching shin and scalp.

Unlike the other bedding options, eucalyptus sheets have antibacterial and anti fungal properties, making them an excellent choice for people with sensitive skin.

    Comfortable

Get comfortable when you get into bed with our Dream Sheets.  Why sleep on scratchy, stiff sheets?  They are unpleasant to fall asleep on.

Eucalyptus sheets allow you to sleep like you are on a cloud. It has a 500-thread count, they feel silky, comfortable, and cool to touch.

    Durable

The ideal eucalyptus sheet benefit is that it is stronger than most other bedding options. Its fibre is strong and will last longer. You do not have to worry about the wear and tear.

Besides that, eucalyptus sheets are resistant to moulds and dust. It repels insects and bedbugs that can bite and ruin your sleep.

    No Static

Everyone’s pet hate with most sheets is static. Nothing worse than like sliding your sleepy head into bed and getting hit with static. Our sheets are static charge free.

    Temperature Regulating

Aside from its breath-ability, our sheets have a temperature-regulating feature. You can use this sheet whether the nights are hot or cold.

For this reason, you do not have to worry if you are a hot sleeper or going through menopause. This bed sheet will make you feel comfortable in all seasons.

Do eucalyptus sheets smell of eucalyptus?

No - our sheets are created from the pulp of the wood of eucalyptus plants, not the leaves. It’s the leaves that contain the oil and therefore the scent, so as a result, the sheets are not scented.

    How to wash eucalyptus sheets

That’s a good Question. How to take proper care of your brand-new sheets and the best way to wash them. Guess what, it isn’t that hard.

Do eucalyptus sheets have special care instructions?

While our eucalyptus sheets come with many benefits, harsh detergents and bleach can damage these sheets over time, that’s why different care is required when compared with other popular fabrics. The key thing to remember, they are not all that difficult to care for – Pretty simple actually.

So, what are the care instructions?

Eucalyptus sheets are meant to be washed separately on a ‘cold’ or ‘delicates’ setting. Wash them in cold water only, otherwise you might reduce the quality of your eucalyptus sheets over time. We also recommend that you do not use bleach or fabric softener so that your sheets last longer.

These care instructions should be followed for coloured eucalyptus sheets, too, but with coloured sheets, remember to separate them. Remember wash the whites separately.

    Dark or Wine Stains

If you happen to spill red wine, blood or any other nondescript dark liquid, wash your eucalyptus sheets immediately by putting them in cold water. Then, use a good detergent and target the stained area. Leave it on with detergent for 10-15 minutes then pop it in the washing machine and wash it, following the care instructions mentioned above.

    Oily Stains

If you love a good massage, you might notice that massage oil or any essential oil can end up staining your sheets, especially when you forget to put a towel down first.

Our advice for oily stains is to grab some liquid dish washing detergent and apply a small amount of it to the stain. Massage it in before you put the sheets in your washing machine, and once again follow the care instructions mentioned earlier.

General Stains (that aren’t oily, wine or dark)

For general strains, there are products available to target them, but remember that many of these products contain bleach, and that’s the last thing you want to put on our eucalyptus sheets.

We recommend a combination of dowsing the stained area in cold water and, if it’s a bit more tough, massaging it with dish detergent, then straight into the washing machine with a cold water and/or ‘delicates’ setting.

Remember, whenever you stain your sheets, always be quick to treat it as the longer you leave it, the harder it will be to remove.

    Fact:

One of the best things about our sheets is that they get softer with every wash.

    Tip:

Have more than one set of eucalyptus sheets to achieve a healthy sheet rotation. You can’t go wrong.
